Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet. He has followed numerous courses including a Naval Staff course at the prestigious Naval War College in Rhode Island, New Port, USA and National Defence College, New Delhi, India. He holds a MA in Buddhist Philosophy, M Phil in Buddhist Philosophy and is a Member of the Royal Institute of Navigation in the UK. He is an alumnus of the Asia Pacific Centre for Security Studies in Hawaii as well as Near East South Asia Centre for Strategic Studies at National Defence University in Washington DC, USA.
 

Renovation of Tanks in Ampara

A programme on renovation of 28 abandoned tanks scattered in Ampara District was started recently. Steps were taken initially in order to renovate the Namal Oya 100 Walawewa.

Drinking Water Project in Ampara

A massive drinking water project was started for the benefit of people who live in Deeghawapi by the kind cooperation of the Civil Security Department. This was handled by Meththa Societies founded by Rear Admiral Sarath P Weerasekara. Under this programme a number of drinking water wells are built & handed over to the needy in rural areas suffering shortage of water.  More...

A bridge was built across the dilapidated culvert in Indrasarapura Grama Seva Division. Free labour was provided by the Civil Security Force. Presently about 2000 people have benefitted from this bridge.  More...
